Connections

Connections reflect the data flow in the model. We look at connections from the node-centric point of view. We call those connections which bring data in the node “input connections” and those which pass the data to other nodes - “output connections”.

In the graphical interface connections are represented by arrows. Arrow on one end of the connection shows the direction of data flow. The other end of the connection line is blunt.

Create connection

There are two ways to create connections.

  1. Summon pop-up menu hovering over a node.

    1. Hover mouse pointer over the node you need to connect. A pop-up menu with connection pictogram and “Connect to …” will appear under the node.
    2. Click on this pop-up menu and a pictogram of the node with nodes name will appear near the mouse pointer.
    3. Hover mouse pointer over the other node to which you want this connection to be established. When you are done the target node will change the appearance. Two pictograms will appear on it: one for incoming connection and the other for outgoing connection.
    4. Hover mouse pointer over the desired half of the node and click.
  2. Summon pop-up menu right-clicking on a node.

    1. Hover mouse pointer over the node you need to connect and right-click.
    2. In the pop-up menu select the “Connect node to …” item.
    3. Continue from item c. in the list above.

Edit connection

To edit connection:

  • Hover the mouse pointer over the connection. The connection will change its color to blue.
  • Right-click on the connection. The pop-up menu will appear.
  • The menu will show names of nodes and also pictograms for which node it is an outgoing connection and for which it is an incoming.
  • Hover the mouse pointer over the either node and pictogram will change to “Move connection”.
  • Click on the “Move connection” and a pictogram of the node with nodes name will appear near the mouse pointer.
  • Hover mouse pointer over the other node to which you want this connection to be established. The target node will change its appearance: the “Connect” pictogram will appear on it.
  • Click on the node.

Delete connection

To delete the connection, right-click on it. Then click on “Delete connection” in the pop-up menu.
